I am a jointly appointed associate professor of interaction design (IxD) in the departments of Art & Media and Design at Aalto University in Finland.

I got my diploma in Visual Communication Design from Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana (UTEM). In 2004 I received a Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng) degree in User-System Interaction from the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), which included a one-year project in Philips Research. In 2009 I completed my PhD in Human-Computer Interaction at the TU/e, during which I was Visiting Researcher at the University of Art and Design Helsinki (TAIK).

I was Senior Researcher at Nokia from 2008 to 2014, where I was both leader in user-centered design projects overseeing all stages of the research process, and user experience (UX) expert evaluating future Nokia devices at different stages of the development process. In 2014 I returned to academia as Associate Professor of Interaction Design, first at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and since 2017 at Aalto University.

I am currently a distinguished speaker of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). I was a professional football referee at Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (ANFP) in my home country of Chile.
